Ilemobade, ex-FUTA VC, abducted

A former Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of
Technology, Akure (FUTA), Professor Albert Adeoye
Ilemobade, was, on Monday morning, abducted by
men suspected to be kidnappers at his residence.
The former university don was reportedly abducted
along with his gateman and was taken to an
unknown destination.
According to a close family source, his wife woke up
in the morning and discovered he was not in the
house.
She also discovered that the car was not in the
compound and the gateman was also nowhere to be
found.
She called his office where he was supposed to have
held a meeting but was told he was also not there.
The source added that the abductors left the victim's
house with his car, which was later abandoned on
Ijare road, in Ifedore Local Government Area of the
state.
However, family members, friends and associates of
the former university lecturer were seen at his
residence to condole with the family.
A source within the family said the abductors had
not established any contact with the family.
Confirming the incident, the state Police Public
Relations Officers, Wole Ogodo, said the command
had commenced investigation on the matter and
assured that the hoodlums would be brought to
book.
Professor Ilemobade was the vice chancellor of FUTA
between 1987 and 1995.
The Executive Secretary of the Cocoa Association of
Nigeria (CAN), Segun Adewumi, was, on Thursday
night, kidnapped by gunmen in Akure, leaving his car
behind.
Adewumi was later released by his abductors on
Sunday evening, after paying unspecified amount as
ransom.
