As Nigerians wait expectantly for the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari to take over the mantle of leadership on May 29, 2015, the European Union (EU) has also set agenda for the retired general.
Channels TV on Wednesday reported that the ambassador and head of the European union delegation to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Michel Arrion revealed the agenda in a chat.
Mr. Arrion was reported to have directed the President-elect to make the rehabilitation of the North- Eastern part of the country his priority upon assuming the overall office.
Recall that the North-Eastern part of the country has been under servier and destructive attacks that were carried out by the now fading Islamic terrorist group, Boko Haram.
The terrorist group launched series of attacks that led to the death of thousands of innocent Nigerians residing in the region.
The Boko Haram menace has, however, declined following a military clamp down that commenced six weeks to the country’s general elections after it was postponed from April 14, 2015 to March 28.
The sect has been suffering huge casualties in the hands of the gallant Nigerian troops as well as that of the neighbouring Cameroon and Chadian soldiers.
Meanwhile, Arrion, had also stated that the presence of a strong opposition will be in the APC’s best interests because if there is no strong opposition outside the party, the APC may suffer the same fate as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) by having an internal opposition.
