Open Letter To Ajimobi On Flooding

August 26 2012 still remain ever green in the memories of Ibadan recent that were victims of the historical flood at strategic places in the Oyo state capital of Nigeria. No fewer than 50 lives were lost to the trauma and many people displaced with goods and properties worth millions of Naira. The nightmare made the administration of Governor Abiola Ajimobi take drastic measures to see into the dredging of rivers and widening existing ones to make the flow of water as easy as possible. Should I say the administration took their eyes off as soon as the flood issue died down, or probably that wasn’t the long time priority of the Ajimobi administration.
In the year 2012 Nigeria had a high rainfall generally and according to the meteorologists the south west was affected with more of flooding with states like Lagos, Oyo being on the top chart. Residents of Oyo state so far this year have currently been grumbling on the forecast done wherein we might have the 2012 type of rainfall in 2015, what measures are the StateEmergency Management Agency (SEMA) doing to put appropriate things in place, what is the ministry of water cooperation doing to prevent flooding, what is the national orientation organization doing? What is every individual doing? These are a question that needs answers.
The Odo-Ona Elewe dredging started with the Oluyole local government then chairman Abass Aleshinloye even after completion is it getting any better? Let’s take it a bit off Oluyole local government, in the remote area of Iyana church around Alakia part of Ibadan I have these pictures here to share of what I saw early on Tuesday 2nd June 2015
Someone asked “is that a house in the lagoon of Lagos? This is right here in the heart of Ibadan, I therefore make it open to the Oyo State government to once  more see into this and let us help the government to prevent this disastrous happening to repeat itself.
Yes the ‘Jinx breaker’ could set us another record in Oyo state.
Cleanup your drainages, stop disposing dirt into water ways, take charge of your water tunnels you might not be live near a river someone close to you might be a victim.
Save a life by doing what is right.
